Recon By Fire Rules & Safety Procedures

Recon By Fire Precision Range is a serious, semi-private long-range shooting facility. These rules exist to maintain a safe, professional environment for competent shooters. All members and guests are expected to know and follow them at all times.
Failure to comply may result in immediate removal from the range and possible loss of membership without refund.

Quick Range Safety Rules (Read Before Shooting)
- Recon By Fire is a cold range
- All firearms must be unloaded with chamber flags installed unless actively firing
- Eye and ear protection is mandatory
- Shoot only from authorized firing points
- Use approved targets only with approved backstops
- No steel core, tracer, incendiary, or armor-piercing ammunition
- Follow all downrange procedures exactly
- The shooter is responsible for their bullet from muzzle to impact
- Anyone may call a cold range for safety concerns

- The shooter is responsible for their bullet from the moment it leaves the barrel until it lands
- Anyone may call a cold range for unsafe conditions
- Recon By Fire may remove any individual to preserve safety and order
- Our intent is to provide a first-rate, safe, professional long-range shooting facility for serious shooters.
Arrivals & access
Check-In, Orientation & Access
- All members and guests must check in and check out at the office for every visit
- All members and approved guests must complete range orientation before access
- Members and guests must sign in and out on each visit
- Any member or guest under 18 years old must be under constant adult member supervision
Scheduling
Range Hours & Member Access Levels
Standard Range Hours
- Summer: Wednesday–Sunday, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Winter: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Master & Master Family Members
- May shoot 1 hour after sunrise and 1 hour before sunset
- Winter: 30 minutes
- Must provide one day’s notice for shooting outside normal business hours
Visitors
Guests & Non-Members
- No guests or spectators are allowed without prior approval from Recon By Fire
- Approved guests must sign a liability waiver

Rules & conduct
Legal Compliance & Conduct
- All Federal, State, and Local firearm laws must be obeyed
- Recon By Fire Range reserves the right to refuse service or remove anyone to enforce safety
- Repeat or gross violations will result in membership revocation without refund
- No firearm or ammunition sales are permitted on range property
- Stay off the grass around or near the office
- Do not pull past the wooden poles
- Never walk or drive past closed gates, cables, cones, or barricades
Handling
Cold Range Policy & Firearm Handling
- Recon By Fire operates as a cold range at all times

All firearms must:• Be unloaded• Have a chamber flag installed• Remain in this condition until on the firing line and clear to fire
- Treat every firearm as if it is loaded and always keep it pointed in a safe direction
- Chamber flags are required anytime a firearm is not actively firing, including transport to and from the firing line
On the line
Firing Line & Downrange Procedures
- Shooting is allowed only from authorized firing points
- Every target must have an approved backstop
- Shooting without an approved backstop will result in immediate termination of range privileges

When going downrange:• All firearms must be clear• Chamber flags installed• Verbal and visual confirmation from all shooters• No firearm or ammunition handling while anyone is downrange
- Firing may resume only after the range is confirmed clear.
Equipment
Targets, Backstops & Range Property
- Shoot approved targets only
- Do not move targets or add targets anywhere on the range

Never shoot at:• Rocks• Trees• Landscape• Range property or structures
- Do not shoot rimfire targets with centerfire ammunition
- Any damage caused by your actions is your responsibility to repair or compensate
- Props and equipment may only be used for their intended purpose
Restrictions
Ammunition & Caliber Restrictions
- No rifle calibers on the pistol range
- .50 BMG is prohibited
- .338 Lapua or equivalent restricted to 600 yards and beyond

Prohibited ammunition includes:• Tracer• Incendiary• Armor-piercing• Steel core• Green tip
- No flammable or explosive targets, including Tannerite
- Hunting or shooting at any wildlife is strictly prohibited
Distance limits
Optics & Distance Restrictions

Firearms using:• Open sights• Red dot sights• Scopes under 14x magnification
- Are restricted to 500 yards maximum, with no exceptions.
- Shooters are expected to know their target and their dope.
Safety closures
Weather & Emergency Conditions
- The range will close during lightning or high lightning risk
- Report any issues with the range or facilities to Recon By Fire staff immediately
Leave no trace
Cleanup, Brass & Responsibility
- Police your own brass
- Clean up all trash, brass, cigarette butts, and old targets
- Leave the range better than you found it
Special access
PRS / Positional Range Access Rules
- Non-Master members are prohibited from the positional side

PRS side access is limited to:• Master and Master Family members only• Completion of two matches prior to access
